Our Story
We're raising two daughters, fourteen years apart.
That gap turned out to be the whole reason this shop exists.
When our eldest was small, a phone was something on a table that occasionally rang. By the time our youngest arrived, it was in every hand in every room, and there was an app for every quiet moment that used to be filled with nothing in particular.
We're not raising our children in the same world. We're getting a second chance, fourteen years later, knowing things we didn't know the first time.
This shop is what we decided to do with that.
What we're actually trying to do
Screens aren't the enemy. Algorithms are.
There's a difference between a child drawing on a doodle board and a child two hours into a feed that was designed never to end. One of those is play. The other is a product built to hold attention for as long as possible, and children aren't equipped to fight it. Neither are most adults.
So we went looking for the other kind of thing. Toys that need hands. Kits that take a whole afternoon. Games that need a second person. Things that run out of nothing, need no charging, have no notifications and no next episode.
Some of what we sell does have a screen — a drawing tablet, a light-up board, a pair of video walkie talkies. We're upfront about that, and we say so on every one of those pages. What none of them have is an app, a feed, an account or an internet connection. Nothing in this shop can show your child anything they didn't make themselves.
How we choose what we sell
We're a couple, and we run this shop together. No warehouse, no team — the two of us, choosing every product, writing every description and handling every order.
We keep the shop small on purpose. Every product here had to earn its place:
-
It has to give a child something to do, not something to watch
-
It has to survive being played with, not just look good in a photo
-
It has to be something we'd be happy giving to our own daughters
-
If it carries a character or a brand that isn't ours to sell, it doesn't go in the shop
We turn down more products than we list. That's most of the job, really.
What you can expect from us
We'd rather tell you the truth and lose the sale than get the sale and lose your trust.
That means honest delivery times instead of optimistic ones. Real detail about what's in the box. Clear safety information, including the parts nobody enjoys reading. And a real person answering the email — because there are only two of us, and it will be one of us.
If something goes wrong with your order, tell us. We'll sort it out.
Thank you for being here
Every order matters to us more than we can reasonably explain in a paragraph on a website.
We hope whatever you choose ends up on a kitchen table somewhere, with someone's hands busy and nobody reaching for a phone.
