Product Description

Build it. Solder it. Tune in. 📻⚡

Discover how electronics come together with this DIY FM Radio Electronics Kit — a hands-on STEM project that turns individual electronic components into a working digital FM radio.

Instead of simply using a finished device, builders get to assemble the circuit, understand the components and experience the satisfaction of switching on something they created themselves.

Once completed, the radio can automatically search and store FM stations, display the selected frequency and signal strength, and play through its built-in speaker.

From circuit board to working radio

This project is ideal for anyone interested in:

  • Electronics

  • Soldering

  • Circuit building

  • 📵 A rewarding hands-on project away from passive screen time

This is a soldering project

Every joint on this board is made by hand. That's the point of it — you'll place each component, solder it into position and end up understanding exactly how the circuit works, because you built it.

If you've been looking for a first real soldering project, an FM radio is one of the best places to start: the circuit is well documented, the components are forgiving, and the result is something you'll actually use.

What you'll need (not included)

  • A soldering iron and solder

  • Wire cutters or small side cutters

  • A power source — 5V USB or 3V batteries, depending on the configuration

  • Safety glasses and a well-ventilated space

Most of these are standard in any hobby electronics setup. If this is your first build, a basic soldering iron and lead-free solder are all you need to get started.

Important

⚠️ This is a DIY electronics project, not a ready-to-use children's toy.

Soldering is required to complete this kit. Soldering irons reach temperatures that cause serious burns, and solder fumes should not be inhaled — work in a ventilated space, on a heat-resistant surface, and never leave a hot iron unattended.

This kit should be built by an experienced user, or by a teenager under responsible adult supervision. Not suitable for young children.

STEM challenge: Don't just listen to a radio — build one and discover how it works.
