Product Description

Build it. Add water. Make it move. 💧⚙️

Discover engineering in action with this DIY Hydraulic Robotic Arm Kit.

Instead of using motors or batteries, the model demonstrates how hydraulic pressure can transfer force and create movement. Once assembled, water moves through the hydraulic system to operate the mechanical arm — turning a hands-on building project into a working engineering demonstration.

Perfect for teens, curious makers and anyone who enjoys understanding how machines actually work.

See hydraulics come to life

Hydraulic systems use pressurised liquid to transfer force from one part of a mechanism to another.

With this model, builders can see that principle working in front of them: applying force to one piston transfers pressure through the water and moves another part of the mechanical arm.

A practical way to explore:

  • Hydraulic pressure

  • Force transmission

  • Mechanical movement

  • Pistons and linkages

  • Engineering principles

  • Assembly and problem solving

Why makers will love it

  • 💧 Real hydraulic movement using water

  • ⚙️ Working mechanical arm after assembly

  • 🪵 Wooden DIY construction

  • 🔋 No motor or battery required for the hydraulic mechanism

  • 🧠 Encourages engineering thinking and problem solving

  • 👐 Hands-on building experience

  • 📵 Immersive offline STEM project

  • 🔬 Demonstrates a real scientific principle

  • 🎁 Great gift for teens, makers and engineering fans

  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Fun project to build together

Bigger than it looks in photos

At roughly 53 cm across when assembled, this isn't a desk trinket — it's a full-size demonstration model with real reach. It takes up proper table space, which is exactly what makes the movement worth watching.

Water is the power source

You'll need water to run it, and that's the whole point: there's no motor, no battery and no electronics anywhere in the mechanism. Press one piston and the pressure travels through the liquid to move the arm at the other end.

A tip worth knowing: add a single drop of food colouring to the water before you fill the system. The coloured liquid makes the pressure visible as it travels through the tubes, which turns the finished model into a far better demonstration — and looks better too.

From pieces to a working machine

Assemble the wooden structure, connect the hydraulic components and experience the moment when pressure in the system makes the arm move.

It's not just a model to look at — it demonstrates why real hydraulic machines work.
